Toby Giangrande
Vice President of Commercial Contracting
Joined Encon in 2003
As the Vice President of Commercial Contracting, I lead and manage the Commercial Contracting Department which includes all construction and replacements.
I attended Ferris State University, where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Engineering Technology. Recruited out of college, I relocated from Michigan to Connecticut in 2003. I was intrigued by the opportunity to work for a smaller HVAC company where I could grow my career. My technical background and commitment to excellence have significantly contributed to our success.
At Encon I was empowered to learn, make decisions, make mistakes, and learn some more. Along the way I have learned how to empower others to do the same. I enjoy helping others reach their full potential. It’s fulfilling when people accomplish their goals and reach beyond to accomplish things they never thought possible.
I approach challenges and problem solving with an open mind trying to uncover and analyze the details before making a decision or suggestion on how to approach or proceed.
The best career advice I can provide is to become a student of the industry. Learn to understand how and why things happen, which will help you troubleshoot more effectively. Do what you say you are going to do. A long time ago, a wise man told me that you build credibility by doing the things you say you are going to do. This is one of the best pieces of advice I was ever given.
